Yer the freakin' greatest!

Posted on 13 Mar 2008 @ 12:13

Yay! You guys are better to me than my own family. I am always touched by the amount of support that comes out of your fingers. Thanks. It means a lot.
As you say, 'hugs'.

My best buddy Lisa pointed out to me yesterday that i never actually wrapped up Ellen Harvelle, so at the risk of flogging a dead horse, let's leave the lovely ole gal on a postive note;

I adored the character of Ellen. She is unlike any character i have played and i am proud of her. She was tough love, fiercely loving, and loyal to the death. I don't think that more Ellen's out there would be a bad thing. Someone that i could throw a beer back with. I loved the cast and crew, the producers and writers, and my connection to all of them.

I'm glad i got to play this role and thrilled that she created a spark in so many people...the ultimate compliment. Being an actor can be a tough gig but this was one of the reasons why you do it. Thank you for digging her and understanding her as much as i did.

And hell....she ain't dead yet. Ellen lives on through conventions, including Eyecon in April in Florida, and Asylum in England in May. As for the future....you just never know.

Just did an interview for Winchester World. That is the website. I believe it is case sensative.

Auditions are busy right now.....lots of pilots being shot. Had a callback for a great one. JJ Abhrams (sp?) new show. He is the creator of Lost. It was down to just two of us but it didn't go as well as i thought it would. You know when you killed it (good thing) but somehow i just wasn't getting the vibe from the director. Nuts. Oh well. Brush it off. Move on. If you get hung up on the ones you don't get you would be a complete basket case. They could also go with an American actor. They tend to do that most of the time for the bigger roles and shows that are going to be a big hit. It is a comfort level thing; the show is American with American producers and directors and i think they tend to work with actors that they know. Canadian actors are proving themselves slowly but we've got a ways to go until we are usually considered for the big stuff. Not all the time, but most of the time.

Haven't heard on the drunken-obnoxious-friend of Heather Locklear yet (also may go American) but i did have a callback for it and i know i did a great audition and that is all you can do. I was funny as hell. Jeez, i am damn funny when i want to be ( ;)). I attribute that to English parents. Funniest people in the world. The Brits....not my parents.

Couple other things in the hopper that i won't bore you with but i'll certainly tell you when/if i book them. I'm sure you know this, but the rejection level in this industry is huge. If you book one out of every 14 auditions, you are on fire. Your agent is over the moon. There are just so many people you are up against and there are sooo many different ways that can choose to go. As long as you are prepared (don't party the house down the night before....learn your lines...etc...), do your best, and feel good about what you did....they you have to release it to the universe. If it was meant to be yours, it will be. I know that sounds a little new age, but you have to be a little zen about this gig to survive.

Gotta run.....audition in 20 mins and i am still in sweatpants and curlers. Head of Homeland Secuity. The stuff that i book a lot; tough, polished, suit, professional....and watching the world come to an end. Lots of movies like that these days.

xo
Hey Sam,
I am sooo glad that you feel better when we said good things to you! I agree with your friend Lisa that you are definetly great role! I didn't know that you interviewed for Winchester World. I will check it later. Thank you for let me know and I am so glad that you felt better!

oxox & hugs,

Hey!

Glad to see that things are looking up. Your "eulogy" for Ellen made me remember all the reasons I loved her. I wouldn't mind having her as a (surrogate) mother!

It's nice to hear you talk about acting like that. I'm hoping that I can turn it into a profession, but sometimes it seems so damned hard to deal with. This made me think a little differently. So, thanks.

As they say, life does go on and never say never when it comes to Ellen (hell, I live in hope me lol)

You think Brits are the funniest people in the world? Well that is damn kind of you, and yea I kinda agree...not that I'm biased or anything!

Fingers crossed on all the auditions, though how you manage to stay as sane as you do, I have no idea....

Totally bummed about Ellen, would have loved to see you back, and in more scenes with the boys, but your attitude towards it helps. You got a lot of great fans because of that role, we want to see you in so much more. And yes, that bodes well for Ellen, that she didn't die, so it didn't happen this time but maybe in the future there will be another chance for you to come back. Everything happens for a reason.

LOVE the Brits, they are the funniest people in the world. Totally agree with that.

I hope you have fun at the conventions, I hope one day I'll be able to go to one and meet you.

Your fellow Canadian. *hugs*

So glad to hear that our words managed to cheer you up a little. The things you said about Ellen were so true: I have a friend who can totally fit that description and I can say she's one of the most incredible people I've ever met. And one of the strongest as well.
As for the many auditions: sometimes getting back to work is the best cure. Ehi... I almost sound like my grandma! hihihihi
Take care

Hi Sam,
Just wanted to stop by and tell yahow much I loooove Ellen.
She`s a tough cookie with a soft center.
I see myself in Ellen, I teach high school so you got to be tough but gentle too and know when and how to dose it......Anyway, let`s just say you`ll always be Ellen in my book.
But then, she`s not die yet now is she. I`m keeping my fingers crosssed and praying hard.
A bientôt,

Good luck with all the auditions! Hope you land a great role and one that we get to see in the States ;)
By Marie @ 15 Mar 2008 05:15 am

Sam... always there to help.
Aren't fans there for that: support you in good times and in bad times. Now let's hope the bad time is behind and that we can plainly enjoy what's coming up. Can't wait to see you back on screen.
Although I do see you from time to time (yeah sure I'm watching my SN DVDs) on your other shows... that's being in France, we get the shows years after they're over in the US!!! LOL. Haha I saw Fred Lane (YED) this afternoon in Ghost Whisperer... fun how I always get excited to see one of the SN sidecast... silly I know.

Well I guess... I'll be sitting here waiting for more news from you. Don't be too quick updating though, I'm going skiing this week -hehe- tons of snow in the Alpes and I hope some nice weather too so I don't look like death in Florida ;)

Have fun and keep that spirit we love so much!!

Hugs back at ya, Sam!

From the outside looking in, acting seems like such a glamorous career: traveling the world, working with so many other talented people, being able to do what you love most. It's easy to lose sight of the reality of it all. I could never do it. The emotional and psychological wear and tear would kill me. I'm just not that strong. But *you* are. Good things will come. Just keep on keepin' on! (And I'll bring another hug with me to Eyecon!)

See you soon!

Hey Sam,

Thanks again for the Interview it was wonderful!

I'm still holding out hope for Ellen next season but until then I hope you get some of these roles. The drunken-obnoxious-friend of Heather Locklear sounds ... interesting.

Is it still considered bad luck to tell someone good luck? Ah well, just in case... break a leg Sam!

Enjoy

First of all greetings from Vienna Austria. I'd miss Ellen for sure. She was a helluva character with a strong personality and very down to earth. You did a tremendous job no one could've done it better! But nevertheless it's good you found a new focus and I'm sure you'll find another "playground". Keeping my thumbs up for your auditions. See you at the eyecon.

You never know, there's another season for Supernatural so Ellen may yet be revived, but for now it's sad to let her rest.

As for the rest, I have fingers and toes crossed for you that something amazing comes your way and I look forward to seeing you in May.

you go, girl. i know you'll knock 'em dead, and we are behind you all the way. even tho' your words for ellen bring tears to my eyes, she lives on in our hearts, and you do her damn proud.

meanwhile, don't forget to take some quality time relaxing with your swedish masseur, dining on delicacies cooked up by your italian chef, and working out in the afternoon with your sunny california boy. on the beach. and of course, quality time with the sleek arabians of untouchable bloodlines is de rigeur.... you must keep up your health, and these things will put roses in your cheeks and a sparkle in your eyes. it's all for your own good, you know.

see you at EyeCon!! *so excited*

Hey :D

You know we give you the kind words because you deserve them and i know that Ellen is going to be back. That woman is to kickass to get rid off. I would be VERY mad if they did.

I can't wait to see you in....ANYTHING. i just really love your acting. You are amazing.

And before i forget, i read your Interview on the new Supernatural Magazine. It was soo great. The pranks...oh those boys *giggles* If only the set had lots and lots of hidden cameras

*giggles lots*

But seriously, you were great in it....i loved your thoughts about the Supernatural...i've never heard someone put it that way before. it really made me love ya even more than i do already.

it's soo cool to hear about your encounters.

Im sorry, i got all rambly there *giggles*. I just needed to tell you that. You are a wonderful person.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and i hope that everything works out for ya.

Love ya Sam

Hi
I must admit that strong, good written female characters seemed scarce on Supernatural up and till Ellen and Ruby. I loved Ellen. I just wish they would bring her back. You were great also in the 4400.
Take care.
